They took me in their arms and held me when I needed to be held but I don't see that that would happen again in this day and age. I don't think people know each other or their stories, and if you don't know somebodies story than you don't really know them... Stand by Me, kids on train tracks

  FIRE!
1 Dan Neducsin: The Manayunk club was a special place in my mind. Probably the most spectacular thing was the overall view of Manayunk besides that, the club itself was beautiful. Pan of Manayunk from the Club site

1 Continued Photo of Manayunk Club covered in ivy
1 Jack Quinn: The difference came of course when Joe Rumsey died. Continued
5a Christina: I stopped going to the club when in 1996, they started letting anyone in. Underage people were coming in and starting fights and the old timers stopped going and it wasn't a safe fun place to go anymore.
1 Jack Quinn: The fire was actually on my birthday. It was about 11 on a Sunday night and a fire engine came up and, of course as usual, they had a hard time making the corner but the only thought was, oh well, the Manayunk Club is on fire. Fire
1 Jack Quinn: That place was engulfed in flames shooting up all over the place. Fire
1 Jack Quinn: It took the fire company a half an hour to get those deluge guns onto the building and by that time it was gutted. I guess it took 3 hours before they got it under control. Fire
1 Bonnie Quinn: There was no water pressure so they had to run a hose all the way from green lane up Fleming Street back here to fight that fire Fire
2 Bill Braunsberg: I was back there talking to a fellow that was thinking about buying the Club and making it into a restaurant - bed and breakfast Fire
1 Dan Neducsin: I had plans, we were going to restore it to its original look and then we were going to create 8 apartments. Fire
2 Bill Braunsberg: About 2 or 3 days later I understand some kids were in there playing around a little bit and they started the fire, supposedly Fire
1 Dan Neducsin: One of the rumors Fire
1 Dan Neducsin: People knew I was trying to buy the Club. There was an agreement of sale. Fire
1 Dan Neducsin: It came back to me that Dan Neducsin somehow was involved in the fire and it was upsetting because here I was trying to restore it to the way it used to look. It's the last thing I wanted next to my name. I never found out if they discovered the cause for the fire Fire
1 Jack Quinn: It was kids. They broke every lock on the place. Fire
1 Bonnie Quinn: The big rumor that night was that Dan Neducsin did it Fire
1 Bonnie Quinn: We were just waiting for that to happen cuz the kids had been going in there Fire
1 Jack Quinn: The alarm system they turned that off and a month after that the fire broke out. Fire
1 Jack Q: It was of suspicious origin and so it would go that the kids started the fire. Fire
1 Bonnie Quinn: I think it was more them than the other. Fire
5a Christina: So I stopped going and now it's gone. I'm so sad. Christina
  THE NEW SITE
1 Mary: This is the site of the old Manayunk Club, What a loss. Close up of Mary in front of new houses

1 Jack Quinn: It's a great shot of the Manayunk Club. Quinn's holding a photo of the Club

1 Dan Neducsin: You really don't see buildings built like this anymore. Dan on Gay St in front of stone. Dan looks at Picture of Club. Zoom out to apartments complex.
  CONCLUSION
2 Essie: I think we need more love in the world. That's for sure. And that's what I enjoyed about my childhood. Essie with little bit of zoom to include Mark.
2 Continue... Because I knew that the people in my neighborhood, there was always a lot of love.
1 Jack Quinn: I think it's changing for the good. It's a thing every generation has to go through and eventually things will settle down. I think it will go more upscale than anything going down scale because of the apartments. Driving car down

Main St

1 Dan has done a nice job back there. They'hre class A apartments. They'll be a higher clientele back there which is gonna, I think, bring the neighborhood back. Walking up Main street, Septa Bus, pan down main Street.
